This course is a continuation of JAPA 1011, focusing on intermediate grammar with particular attention to developing communications skills in writing and speaking and introducing additional kanji characters.(Format: Lecture 3 Hours, Laboratory 1 Hour) Monday and Wednesday 3:00 to 4:20PM Crabtree 316.
This course introduces basic elements of the Japanese language including the essentials of grammar, pronunciation, and two writing systems: Hiragana and Katakana. In addition, the third writing system, Kanji (approximately 20 characters) are taught. Throughout the course, the communicative approach is used; emphasis is placed on acquiring communication skills in both writings and speaking in context.
